I have been in the work force for nearly 12 years. I have had a few jobs for larger companies and small ones.
In exactly zero cases have I given a 2 weeks notice upon my leaving. I walk in to whatever boss's office and tell them I'm quitting. Honestly, to me, it's a courtesy that I even drive to the building, I could just rext. I don't work to make friends, and honestly I can't really stand most of the people I work with being an introvert who far prefers quiet and solitude. Why should I consider the people who make way more than me in matters of staffing?
None of the places I've worked have made me feel like part of a team or part of something that's a positive force in the world. Ive always been treated like a drone even if i decide to try and endear myself to management by working a bit harder to get a positive nod or kind word, it's always hollow corporate crap that they spew just to keep you going another hour.
I'll get replaced in 37 seconds anyways by some other poor sap who is slowly being crushed by the unutterable and. Unyielding machine of industry.
Why is it my job to give you notice that I'm going to leave when you can just….waltz up to me with a pink slip of paper that says “Fuck you, you have no paycheck or insurance all of a sudden, good luck dying in a ditch, dumbass.”
I've only been fired once from my very first job because I did make a pretty big mistake and I own that. (That really has no bearing on my rant, but you see the point, I'm sure)
I'm not sure if this is a coherent bunch of words but I'm particularly frustrated today because the company I work for now is “Cutting costs” and just let like, 14 people go. Suddenly and with only a week's severance (I was talking to one of the people let go on Facebook and he is understandably very upset.)
Anyways….happy Friday everyone. Try not to slip into the unending void of corporate greed and avarice.
