Antiwork

I have never heard of this happening.

Sorry if the format comes out weird, I am on mobile. So I had an interview with a company last week on Tuesday. They liked my qualifications, etc, yada yada… We ended out the interview by discussing wages. They asked me for a range of pay, I mentioned their ad said $30-$36, I felt I was somewhere in the middle so I said $32. They agreed with $32, then they said they would send me the paperwork over email to be signed after the background check is finished. I had not heard back from them, or received an email, so I called them today. They did not pick up but called me back shortly, within 15 minutes. The interviewer said they had gotten busy during the latter part of the week and had not been able to sit down and finalize my paperwork, but the background check came back acceptable.…

So I had an interview with a company last week on Tuesday. They liked my qualifications, etc, yada yada…

We ended out the interview by discussing wages.

The interviewer said they had gotten busy during the latter part of the week and had not been able to sit down and finalize my paperwork, but the background check came back acceptable. He mentioned there had been an issue with what was discussed in our interview.

Apparently, they no longer agreed to the pay or the position I was agreed to hire in at. They wanted to do a 90 day probationary period before I would transition into the position we spoke about in the interview. As they were telling me this, I was sitting there thinking to myself “great, they are about to low-ball me and promise a raise when I transition into my true position, etc, etc”

I began phasing out while they were talking. Then I heard them say something about $35 an hour. Surely, I thought I misheard or misunderstood because I wasn't paying attention, but I wasn't. This company actually believed I undervalued myself at $32 and think I am worth at least $35 an hour to start, and will be conducting a review at my 90 days as well when i transfer to my true position.

Has anyone else here ever heard of a company doing this? I was expecting them to have said their manager stepped in and would not allow more than $26/$28 or some bullcrap like that.
