I have been working for 1 year and a month and today May 4 they said “since you quit on May 1st your paycheck are ready and you can return your uniform”
The first week working I received racist comments from the General Manager
“Your accent is too thicc”
“You need to sound less European”
“You talk too fast”
“People in Europe don’t care about customer service like we do”
Ignore that and continue working there because there was nothing open due covid by that time. Unfortunately one of my “managers” is my neighbor, I put the “” because she is just an employee like me but she think she is special. Let’s call her “A” A is rude, she treats people like shit and she have the “confidence” and joke and treat me bad cuz she is my neighbor.
When you are hired she is the only one who can work full time, nobody else is allow because she want all the hours + she is getting profit/credits on every item we sold n the gift shop. Most of the times I schedule 5-7h per day if im lucky, she start sending me home 4h early and stuff like that because “we are not that busy” she sometimes text me on my phone saying “don’t come today to work we are slow” and stuff like that 30min before my shift.
They know I am a artist, I draw and make candles/bar soap and stuff like that so one day I suggested if I can sell those in the gift shop like her, they said no and after that they start selling bar soap from another seller. Pretty much employee A don’t want to have another employee selling stuff because she will see that as a competition.
They also used me as a taxi to give rides to one of the employees, who lives 15min away and don’t have a car.
Last week of April I work all the week so on May 1st I thought it was my day off so I start doing doordash. Being Dasher means you have to have your phone available all the time. So I start dashing at 9:30am.
May 2 was again my day off so again I was dashing.
May 3rd my mother called me saying “employee A is here saying that you didn’t show up today to work and that you quit” Employee A have the obsession to visit my mother at work and talk about me to her. My mother works at Walgreens and I am 30yr I am not a minor.
Employee A lied again, I didn’t work that day because I have 3 days off.
So I texted my boss saying it “is legal to have employee A keep showing up at my mom job and talking about “your daughter this and your daughter that “ what is next? She will knock my door at home if im late or if I have an emergency?” My boss told me “you quit on May 1st you never call us or show up and employee A texted you and called you” I provided evidence to her that employee A never contacted me on May 1st and I even have a logs from AT&T showing all the incoming calls and there was nothing under Employee A phone number. I provided that to my boss and her answer was “did you blocked her number?” to which I replied that I do not have anyone blocked related to work. So today I asked about what is the situation “Your check will be mailed since you quit” So in other words Employee A lied to the GM about “I called her/texted her and texted on Facebook and she never answered” and none of those are true. So now I lost my job because of her. I don’t understand why they do that to me.. I gave to them a xmas tree for free for xmas, I gave 72 candles with Halloween themes to everybody as a sample, I give rides to employees I help translating to Spanish or Italian, I remain quiet after the continues racist comment and Employee A treating me like a slave and yelling my name across the gift shop like I owe something.. Sorry if this is too long I need to vent
