I’m a new teller at a local bank and my experience had been pretty good up until my mentor called out and literally never came back. It’s been a couple of weeks now and we don’t even know when or if she’s returning.
She made it clear that the time off was for mental health reasons, which I understand.
But it’s been weeks.
Since then we have been struggling with the small group we have. I’ve been working overtime and coming home late everyday, so has everyone else in the branch.
I’ve also been doing her job as well, she was the vault custodian and I took on that responsibility in her absence.
I’m tired of dealing with aggressive and impatient customers and I’m tired of being overworked and being told to basically just “deal with it”.
I’m also irritated with the new branch manager. He acts as if the teller line isn’t his problem. When we’re still working an hour after closing he doesn’t offer to help with anything and just asks us when we think we’ll be done.
I just found out yesterday that we’re getting a new teller that would be getting paid more than me for doing the exact same job. That was my breaking point, I’ve already started looking at other banks on indeed.
Sorry for the long post I just had to rant. Debating on whether or not to send an email to someone higher up.
