Antiwork

I haven’t worked for about 2 years and I feel no shame.

I'm a community college student that still lives at home. The only bills I have are my credit card payment and YouTube premium. The money I do make comes from returning bottles, cutting grass, and the occasional Doordash order. On average, I “work” about 5 hours per week. I spent my entirety of high school working awful fast food and retail jobs. When I turned 18, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't waste my entire youth away from working shitty jobs. Well, I'm turning 20 soon, and I've pretty much held onto that promise. Instead of working, I have: traveled to amazing places made some cool friends made tons of memories excelled in my hobbies became a better musician figured out what I want to do in life I understand life won't be like this forever, but I want to make the most out of my youth…

I spent my entirety of high school working awful fast food and retail jobs. When I turned 18, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't waste my entire youth away from working shitty jobs. Well, I'm turning 20 soon, and I've pretty much held onto that promise.

Instead of working, I have:

  • traveled to amazing places
  • made some cool friends
  • made tons of memories
  • excelled in my hobbies
  • became a better musician
  • figured out what I want to do in life

I understand life won't be like this forever, but I want to make the most out of my youth while I can. I don't want to end up 40 years old having nothing joyful to look back on.

A lot of people would probably glance at this and write me off as lazy, but honestly, that's okay with me. I'm not living for anybody else but me. My time on Earth is limited, so I'm going to make the most of it.
