I hit the Hubstaff jackpot (the story of a glitch that saved my life)

I've been working remotely at this org for 3 months now. They asked me to install Hubstaff and I did as I was told. Signs of a glitch started appearing not long after the installation. Even though the app had permission to take screenshots, all the screenshots would come out blank. I did not change the settings of the surveillance system one bit. As a matter of fact, I do not have access to make those adjustments. However, Hubstaff app records no idle time on my Linux Ubuntu 22, even when I step away for 30 mins, the timer keeps rolling as if I'm working. In the case of my colleagues, the timer stops rolling after they've been idle for more than a few minutes. My average percentage is usually above %80, but when I tried working on other devices, the activity percentage was closer to %50. A huge difference…

I'm the kind of person who likes getting things done in one big chunk of time. Spending 2 consecutive hours to get something done sounds way easier that dragging it for 5 hours. That's why I feel blessed for this glitch.

My boss is absolutely pleased by my numbers and thinks I'm some sort of work junky. Meanwhile, I take 40-minute breaks and Hubstaff doesn't seem to be noticing. I still feel like an asshole sometimes, but I don't think I'd ever tell on myself.

Has anything like this happened to you? Do you guys know what might be causing something like this? Is this because of my OS? (Ubuntu 22) Or does is have something to do with my laptop? (It's an old Sony laptop)
Do you think the glitch might go away if I switch to Windows?

Cheers
