About 2 weeks ago, I was given a 15 cent raise after working at (DARDEN RESTAURANT) for a year.
For context, Darden is giving out a brand new Porsche to a few of the chain restaurants. The way this contest works is that who ever gets the most to-go orders by this Sunday (I believe this started on Wednesday) will give the general manager a Porsche.
Since the contest began, my gm has been out right yelling at kitchen, yelling at servers to convince customers to order to-go items, has been harassing the to-go team. He's been throwing things and exhibiting kind of violent behavior. If we dont make a to-go order in a certain time frame, the GM will come back to kitchen and say things like “if you all want another raise you better move quicker!” He has even told us to cut back times on cooking some of our meats (ex: herb grilled salmon). I've had to help one of my friends who works in to-go to stop crying, because that day my gm threatened to FIRE her because she wasn't asking customers on the phone if they'd like to order dessert.
So today I walked out on my job because I was sick of this egotistic gaslighting GM that feels the need to harass everyone over this fucking Porsche. If the company can afford to give away a fucking luxury car, why can't it afford more than a 15 cent raise?? Why can't it afford to pay the servers more than 2.13 an hour?????
