I know this is antiwork but it says open to career discussions too

I work for a bank in a head office role. I make a really good wage, I have a good leader but my job catches a lot of shit work because others don't take ownership or accountability and my team are good at fixing things. Over time this has built frustration. I've always known this role isn't long term for me but I had a plan in place to transition. Then a restructure was announced and I lost all job security. I started browsing internal adds, found a role and applied. 21k less, but still doable, no direct reports and I thought much more in line with where I wanted to go. Had an interview on Monday and it seems like it could just be a case of same shit different location. While the core of the role loses some of my undesirable bits, it sounds like the catch all…

While the core of the role loses some of my undesirable bits, it sounds like the catch all spot fire type work is still prevalent.

Then my current manager calls with an update about the future of my team, essentially a lift and shift with him continuing to be my leader for another 6 months and him being elevated to have more sway for the same period.

No guarantees after that, but likely enough time for him to help shape my current role into something more fulfilling. I've never had an issue with him so I believe he is driving that direction but he also doesn't have overall say.

Willing to push back in my behalf for the frustration and use the restructure to force other teams to step up though and help me get more fulfillment. Has created a niche piece of work for me to assist with that has made the last two weeks more enjoyable and will be long term ongoing work.

But I also don't want to be in my current position long term so I'd still need to plan a transition out or create a structural change from within.

I have the weekend to think my options over and I'm really on the fence so I thought I'd try reddit for some perspective/thoughts/considerations I may not have had. Any thoughts?
