I'm not sure if this belongs here or not, though I do know that many people who work still go through state medical (Medicaid), and have parents, relatives, and friends on it. Especially now when Healthcare is such a problem in this country (America.) My mother-in-law passed away in February. Today, 4 months later when we thought we had everything in order, we received a certified letter from DHS (Dept. of Human Services) that my MIA was indebted to the state for her “free” Healthcare, along with an itemized list month-by-month of what she used, including that they charged $650 a month, all her dental work, and all outpatient services, everything. Over $21,000 total from mid-2016 when she was forced to retire due to severe medical issues and lost her medical through the hospital she had worked for. This was very unexpected for us, and I just want to make sure others know. She had almost nothing, and it looks like the state will be taking that nothing. Stare Insurance isn't free or reduced, it's a loan.
