I leave every conversation with my supervisor feeling confused and annoying

Long and the short of it is summarized in the title, and I don't really know how to handle it (other than what I'm doing, which is the bare minimum….). My role is a mix of communications and operations at a small non-profit. I've been in the role for about a year and my supervisor is growing more and more impossible to work under. First and foremost, she rambles — she talks in circles, repeats the same VERY basic things in every check-in, and provides me with very little helpful feedback or direction. Additionally, she always contradicts herself (yesterday she told me that it would be fine to hold off on sending out an email blast until next week; this morning she called me to ask the progress of the blast????). In working with external partners, I have seen people get confused/ask her to clarify/call her out for being contradictory,…

In working with external partners, I have seen people get confused/ask her to clarify/call her out for being contradictory, so I know I'm not crazy.

Also, my role was created as a sort of “special projects”/”help get out disorganized and stressed out department in order” type of role. I have taken on a LOT, and no one utilizes anything that I have done (i.e., helpful dashboards, reports, and other systems that would automate a lot of our work). Today, I found myself getting a boatload of feedback for a project that I completed in November, because my supervisor “just had the time to look at it now”. It's so unbelievably annoying, makes me feel like nothing I'm doing is really worthwhile, and, it causes me so much anxiety because I never know when my boss is going to decide that she wants something to be done differently.

Last thing I need to bitch about is how clearly unorganized and/or clueless she is???? I understand that people have a lot of work/get a lot of e-mails/calendar invites, but she sends me e-mails constantly asking me to re-send documents that I have shared multiple times/explained how to locate. She spends every meeting asking me to remind her when other meetings are. And perhaps, most annoying, she tells me to stop sending “long emails” because “no one has time to read them” and “it's easier to chat over Zoom” which might be true for her, but isn't for me (I would rather write out my thoughts on something and receive written feedback so that there is a paper trail???). My boss' boss is the same way and never responds to emails, and if they do, the e-mails are filled with typos and it's obvious that they didn't take 5 minutes out to actually read the e-mail.

I was excited about this job b/c it seemed easy as hell and paid well (which it is) but these sorts of incompetant and grating qualities have made me brush off my resume and start thinking about other jobs. Tbh, I'm just complaining but would also love any advice/open the floor for commiseration lolol
