I left my job as a COVID lab supervisor 2 months ago

The place was as sketchy as you can imagine. It started off legit, but as the months went on (I was there 7.5), it got sketchier and sketchier. I left for two reasons, I moved back with my parents because my lease was up in my apartment and it was too far to commute, and I was promised a raise and promotion for 4 months and it never came. I got a text from the former owner this morning saying he was unaware I left. It’s been 2 months. I did not personally know him before the job, but I did have a connection to him which is why I got the job in the first place. I got a text from the former owner this morning saying he was unaware I left. It’s been 2 months. This to me is extremely insulting considering I was one of the reasons the company didn’t go under during the Omnicron surge. It’s just a slap in the face. And then he said, “I’d be willing to discuss a pay increase”. Too little too late unfortunately, I have gotten offers for jobs paying 50%+ than he did in an area I actually want to work in, that are fully remote.

I was going to respond telling him this and expressing that I would consider it if he matched these offers. This would be going from $20/hr to almost $35/hr. Everyone thinks I’m being ridiculous in this request, but why would I willingly work for less for a guy who didn’t even know I quit?
