I'm in a field I find rewarding, my benefits are above average, I get to work with my hand, I'm unionized, my coworkers/boss respect me, and I don't have to think about work after I clock out at all. My girlfriends parents were both higher executives and although they never outright say it, they think what I do is beneath me and I have to spend the whole holidays getting hinted that I'm never going to make enough money. Screw worker culture for making me feel shameful and lowly for a job I LIKE and am proud of, someone has to do blue collar work and it might as well be someone who enjoys it.
