Antiwork

I may be getting written up when I come back from break.

I work an assembly line for a toy factory. All day I stand in the same spot making the same toy over…and over … And over for $15/hr. The company has set unrealistic quotas for all of us to reach each night and all week my supervisor has been hammering in the fact that our numbers are to low. It's gotten to the point that we get reminded every single night that we will be given write-ups if we fail to reach at least 50% of our goal each night. 3 write-ups and you're GONE. Well… Tonight, (my day off mind you) I'm working a line with two other employees. The girl at the front of the line runs out of one of the parts she needs so she tells our lift driver to go find them. He returns around 10 minutes later and say that he can't find any…

Well… Tonight, (my day off mind you) I'm working a line with two other employees. The girl at the front of the line runs out of one of the parts she needs so she tells our lift driver to go find them. He returns around 10 minutes later and say that he can't find any so I go looking for my supervisor to let her know (as is the policy). We look for her for another 10 minutes and she is nowhere to be found (she's usually smoking a cigarette outside).

She finally walks through the door with a damn taco bell bag in her hand. So I tell her that we've been waiting for at least 25 minutes for parts and she proceeded to blow up at me and my two coworkers… Going on and on about numbers and policies. She informs us that if we miss the numbers that a write-up is coming. Then she goes looking for the part we need. It takes her well over 30 minutes to find them. So now we've been sitting for over an hour with nothing to do and nothing to make. We jump back to work and she proceeds to sit down at her desk and start eating her cold tacos.

There is absolutely no way in hell that we are going to get anywhere near our quota for the night and as I'm walking out the door to start my lunch break I glace over at her desk and see 3 pink, write-up forms. I anticipate that after I return she will present them to the 3 of us… And none of us plan to sign because this wasn't OUR fault. The driver couldn't find the parts…. We couldn't find her because she was at taco bell instead of her desk… And we can't produce products that we don't have. I fully expect to be fired when I clock back in because I'm not about to take the blame for someone else's screw up.
