Hi. not sure if this is the right place to post this. I live/work in England. I have a new manager and they took offence at some of the things I posted in Microsoft teams chat. To put it bluntly, they added HR to the chat with the 4 of us in the group chat. (including me) no one else could view the chat.
They have said they want me to join a “formal disciplinary meeting” There are 3 things I said they have a problem with.
1. I mentioned that one of my female colleagues likes the bottom. I was talking about the bottom of a list. she hasn't taken it the wrong way and never made an issue of it.
2. I called a male colleague a poof (gay) and said that his camping trip will probably turn into Brokeback mountain and said it's only gay if he looks them in the eye. (I'm Bi and currently dating a man) It was a joke that he took as such.
3. A female colleague said she had a cold sore and said I probably gave it to her. I replied with “I've never had herpes”.
That's it. None of my colleagues have taken offence and even said they will tell HR that. None of my colleagues have been interviewed, just me. But I'm being accused of being homophobic with those comments.
I've never been in trouble with HR or gone through this before. Not sure where I stand or what's going to happen? I've been working for this company for over 5 years. And I'm a hard worker, do what they tell me. only thing that's happened is our job description changed and they added more work, I asked if our wages will reflect that. They didn't answer the question. apart from that I've been a good little sheep. Any advice would help me. thanks.
p.s, I'm aware I was an idiot by saying this in ms teams, I've apologised and said it won't happen again. So I'm aware it's my own fault.
