I need help/advice. Employer illegally denying me sick time

This is a little confusing and might get long – but here we go! Last year, I signed with a new company. I work as a tutor and after school teacher, mainly for test prep and math. I was super psyched because they hired me as an employee in NYC! Which means that I am legally entitled to sick time. The thing is, the company sick time policy doesn’t seem to apply to everyone and my bosses have been ghosting my emails about sick time. They used every loophole in the New York City sick time law so that only full time employees can use sick time – but no tutor is a full time employee and there are roughly 50 of us. I also don’t know how many other tutors might be independent contractors because the company hires both. I have a meeting with them in a few hours…

I have a meeting with them in a few hours – and I’m just wondering if I should bring this up?

I printed out the form to report them to the NY DOL…but I think I’m also the only one who’s had Covid the past two weeks, so they will know the ‘anonymous’ complaint is from me. I’m scared of retaliation that isn’t provable enough for a lawsuit, and scared of them nitpicking any mistakes I make so they can fire me at fault.

They are ghosting my emails so I am not sure if they know what they’re doing is illegal and it’s malicious? Or if it falls off their radar because I’m a mere hourly worker. Either way, I’m in a sticky situation and need some help navigating, please!
