So about six months ago or so, my boss decided to sell the company (super small company). I never really got told much other than to help get the right documents over, employee info, all that good stuff. Once it was finalized, I feel like things have gotten shady.
I am the bookkeeper and was basically running the company. I now no longer run payroll or pay bills. I essentially just answer phones and make invoices now, so I lost a good portion of my duties with the sell. I’ve asked my boss and the new company if I’m no longer paying bills, who tf is. Haven’t gotten a single response on that yet and it’s been weeks. I’ve noticed my phone isn’t ringing as much either. I used to get at least 20+ texts a day from angis leads about potential jobs and realized today I haven’t gotten one in 10 days.
Fast forward to today, my boss asks me if I have the company files at home (I work from home) and I tell him yes and tells me they need to be in the filing cabinet at the office since we’re moving offices. This was odd to me because if I use them, why do they need to be at the office? I asked him where the new office was and when he told me, I asked if I was still able to work from home. Haven’t gotten a response in 4 hours.
I feel like I’m not going to have a job much longer and they’re slowly weeding me out. Am I overthinking this, should I find a new job, wait and see what happens? Oh, and best part of all of it, I just found out I’m pregnant. So if I do lose my job, I worry no one is going to want to hire a pregnant woman just to have them leave in a few months.
