I live in Western Washington state. i make alright money ($21/hr) and I have a roommate that makes more.
Last year he left his job because his boss was withholding his pay and had a habit of giving bad paychecks. He spent a little more than two months looking for a new job and trying to get unemployment. He was denied. He had to fight to get his last check. He is my best friend and got screwed so I decided to help him instead of watching him drown. He did the same for me.
For the last year we have been trying to keep afloat and pay back all of the money we borrowed to try and pay bills. After we got caught up we wanted to leave our apartment to go someplace cheaper, but our credit had plummeted.
We took a seven month lease to give us time to save money and push get us to winter. Since rental rates tend to be lower in winter and autumn this was the best plan we had.
Our management didn't get both our signatures for the lease because of computer error and instead of letting us know there was an issue the just pushed us to a monthly payment and charged us 40% more than what we were supposed to be paying.
How are people supposed to get ahead of everything is designed to punish you when you fail and tax you when you can't get back up in time.
Sorry about formatting and Grammer. Im currently at work dealing massive muscle pain and weakness as lingering side effects from having a bad case of covid for two weeks. I can't miss anymore work because I'm would fall even further behind, and I had to use all ofy vacation for covid.
