I never signed my agreement to repay the company for my communication device.

A few years ago I was working night shift as a charge nurse. My company decided we all had to start wearing a badge communication device. They also wanted all staff to sign an agreement stating staff would repay $400 replacement cost if lost/stolen/broken. My manager left a stack of 80+ agreements for the charge nurses to collect signatures. Each unit employee had a form prefilled out with their info typed into boxes ready to sign. I didn’t collect signatures and accidentally slipped my paper right on into the shedder bin with some other irrelevant paperwork ….. Whoops. Since then a coworker had theirs fall right into a deep bucket of excrement. They were charge the full price spread out over 3 checks. Mine got washed and dried. I got lucky and it still turned on but was definitely f*ked up. Fully prepared to say show me this agreement I…

I also played stupid and didn’t admit to washing it. The tech said oh it’s old have a new one. I signed nothing and took my new device home.
