A data company was advertising a post at £38k per year online.
I am currently on £29k and applied for it.
There were 2 interviews, an assessment center, and a trial work shift.
At the first interview I asked if the salary was £38k for candidates when they started. They said yes. I confirmed this via email as well as the assessment centre was a 2 day event and I didn't want to waste my annual leave.
I passed the assessment centre, first interview, and 2nd interview, and trial shift, using up 5 days of annual leave to do so.
I was offered the job with a starting salary of £21k.
I challenged this, saying that it was below the advertised rate and what they had told me during the application process.
They stated that £38k would only be for someone who has worked in the company for quite a few years.
I explained that it was far lower than what I was currently earning, but they would not negotiate.
Have I any recourse for them wasting 5 days of my annual leave? I only get 25 per year, so a fifth of them are ruined because of this company's lies.
The legaladvice mod banned me and deleted my post AFTER he asked me to prove it by naming the company.
