Before we get the pitch forks let me explain because I genuinely do believe minimum wage at this point should be $15,
But at the same time, there are TONS of small businesses for a while now that have been paying that or around that for their employees that really can’t pay more
The issue if you ask me is the hyperinflation of necessities such as food, gas, and housing. These are all being price gouged out the ass, with huge corporations buying up tons of housing (which should be illegal), landlords randomly raising rent just because they feel like it, food just going up because they feel like it, and gas being price gouged out the ass too, just cause they feel like it (which go figure they didn’t pass a bill to stop this, because they don’t care)
My point being is that I think small businesses that haven’t raised their prices, are already losing business because of hyperinflation of necessities
If you ask me,
We do need $15 min wage
But we also need a hard crash reset (which seems like they keep trying to kick down the road at this point) to where $15 is enough to live off of like it would’ve been 20 years ago.
An issue too that seems more and more prevalent too is how Walmart, Amazon, etc are shitting on small businesses or rural areas too
