I refused to take a 40 hour work week today

I just graduated from college and i was pressured into taking a job for a few months. Ive had an extremely difficult year mentally and socially. I got instantly hired to a shop/warehouse as a salesperson. In my job contract they originally wrote my hours in a week would be around 30. I thought that it would be relatively okay despite being exhausted. The job refused to inform me about the schedules until i called them yesterday and asked for my work schedule. Turns out they have put me 42 hours of work just in the first week. Meaning they pretty much lied to me. 40 is the normal average but im mentally too drained. I would die if i had to do that now. I called them in today and told them that i cannot take so many hours because of other things in my personal life going on.…

I got instantly hired to a shop/warehouse as a salesperson. In my job contract they originally wrote my hours in a week would be around 30. The job refused to inform me about the schedules until i called them yesterday and asked for my work schedule. Turns out they have put me 42 hours of work just in the first week. Meaning they pretty much lied to me. 40 is the normal average but im mentally too drained. I would die if i had to do that now.

I called them in today and told them that i cannot take so many hours because of other things in my personal life going on. The manager got a little upset and told me they would try to reschedule me to have 30 or less hours.
Im feeling a little bit better but anxious.

Any advice on how to proceed? Has anyone had similar experiences?
