I saved my ex boss’s business from collapse during Covid and he repaid me by stealing a lot of money from me and the other employees

I took over as a manager for a small business after lockdown lifted in 2020. It was just a part time job that I had while I was finishing up my degree. The job was insanely fun and it had a lot of fringe benefits. The owner and I became very close through Covid for the shear fact that we literally survived because I lived and breathed the place even more than he did. This job was physical to a degree that working construction in the south was actually easier in my opinion. I cannot understate the amount of suffering that went into keep this place afloat. At one point when things became so overwhelming he offered to sell the place to me so he could get out of it. I declined because I didn't want to bury myself in his mistakes, which were many. In the beginning of last he put an option on our POS system to tip the workers. After a while I noticed that none of the tips had ever been included in my pay. I had a wedding coming and I needed that money. So I asked him about it and he made a real big scene and demanded I try to figure it out on my owner through our POS company. I called them and they refused to work with me because I wasn't the account holder. I told him that and he promply did nothing for a long ass time (I had finals and I still needed the paycheck so I didn't want to rock the boat too bad) I confronted him again, it had been months at this point and I needed the money for the wedding. I implied that I was about to quit if that money didn't show up. He gave me $200, the tip total was thousands at this point. He said he would give me the rest when he figured it out. I went and asked the other employess if they hadn't received their tips either and they said they hadn't, I get an argument with him about it and he promises to fix it. I leave for my wedding in July and come back in the beginning of August. He starts being really rotten to me about everything out of the blue. We have this massive argument about money. He starts yelling at me outside in front of our neighbors. This is a mistake. I am huge, I was an infantry Marine, and he is a soft rich kid. I tell him some things about him and our mechanic neighbors sit outside laughing as I lay into him. I leave. He takes me off the schedule permanently and I file for unemployment, I tell the state exactly what happened. He tries to sink my unemployment claim, so the state starts grilling him demanding evidence countering my wage theft claim. He ghosts them completely and ends up paying me.

I left in August and this shuts still burns me up. I'm making more than 5x what I made there at my new job. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. He sends me my W2 abd there is a zero in the tips block. I almost have a nose bleed. He had to have lied on his fucking taxes, dude! That's all I'm thinking. This guy did so much other sketchy shit too. I found out that he threw out all these inventory logs we created because he didn't want an accurate record. I'm thinking about reporting his ass.

For more clarity on this guy I want to tell you a little bit about him. He is a South Carolina old money rich boy to the T. He was 25 and driving a Maserati, he was a prototypical frat boy, he had his mommy bail him out of everything. Before I quit he want on this “nObodY wAntS to wOrK” rant where he cried about stimulus checks, this fucking prick got almost $40,000 in PPP loans forgiven!

I'm almost positive he cheated to get those loans forgiven too. This same rich asshole also ran these little scams where he would steal shit from Home Depot, Amazon, and Lowes through their return policies. I mean like thousands of dollars worth of shit. He was also comically terrible at business. We moved literal tons of product and I told him that we needed to buy a box truck because we were destroying our personal vehicles moving everything. I nag him for like a year about it and then one day he pulls up with, I shit you not, a Chevy Avalanche. We needed a vehicle with a lift gate and space for pallets and he comes back with a pickup truck/minivan. It turns into a total shitshow moving product obviously.

One time I told him we needed a ramp installed for moving product into the building because we're on an elevated concrete pad and we have to bring everything in by hand because of the step up. He buys a really shitty version of one of these
This is designed for sliding pallets onto large shleving racks. The bottom half of this thing has to slide under the shelving racks. It won't work moving things onto a concrete pad. So he gets this thing in the mail and starts talking all this shit to me while he's assembling it. He goes on about how my idea for a ramp was stupid and how he knew what to do. I mean he was mega condescending about it. Then the bottom legs of the lift hit the concrete pad and stop it from moving forward. He realizes he just threw a bunch of money away. He panics and turns red as a tomato and I started laughing at him. We didn't even have appropriate OSHA shelving for storage, even though I nagged the shit oyt him about it! He couldn't use the pallet lift for anything.

One time he argued with me about soap being a legitimate need for our entertainment business that had hundreds of customers a day during the pandemic. He laughed at me one time for mopping our lobby. He was a rich baby. I was literally the only reason we were still operating.
