I see your five day work week and raise you a six day work week.

I just read the post where the user is complaining about the five day work week with 8 hours shifts. That sounds like a dream to me, as I have been working for 6 days a week with only one day off. Reading that post and seeing the same thoughts I have almost every day made me type this out just to get it of my chest. I have worked six days a week for years now, anything less than that feels… odd to me. Like I should be working, I'm wasting my time and money. I literally can't have hobbies, time for some regular activities, because at my line of work shifts are both morning and afternoon during week. And I always work weekends. I simply have no will to try anything new, I just recently changed my job and it pays kinda better but I am starting to…

I simply have no will to try anything new, I just recently changed my job and it pays kinda better but I am starting to feel it is not worth it. Working six days a week is such a drag, my days off are usually Monday to Friday, and sometimes I am lucky enough to get a morning shift into day off into afternoon shift so I can have a so called 48 hour rest.

It is not normal. It is not enough. And the pay is not even that good. I realize I work job that does not require a degree or some special skill, but the bosses value of my time is so damn little that I do not even understand it.

As I personally have seen many bosses over the years paying others minimum wage only to buy third apartment or fifth car, I don't have any respect for the work as it is. It became something I am used to doing and I do it so I can survive.

Others tell me that I have larger pay then them, but that people work five day weeks and they only work in the morning. And they have all their holidays off. When you put all that in perspective they are getting payed more than me by the hour, but less during a month.

And the owners tell you at job interviews that you know, this is the most we can pay you but hey, tips are great, you know, others get XY sum a day. But no one guarantees that to me when I come to work. I want to get payed for my time there, tips are not certain and the amount of time you work your ass of for some table that spends your monthly salary on few bottles of wine and few dishes, making an amount of a single salary in eight hours work, and so on every day, makes me despise this work even more.

It is not wonder I see so many people in my line of work to turn to nabbing a few bills a week to even out what they think is fair. I have heard stories about bosses telling their employees: ” Come on guys, I have to fire you if you keep stealing like this, if you nab a bit that is ok, but don't steal to much.”
There are bosses that pay you minimum wage and expect you to steal the rest, literally there are places like that where it is a silent agreement. But your retirement does not come out of stolen money, your medical is not covered, you are working minimum wage and long term that is hurtful to you.

Only option for me now is to change the line of work, and I want to do it, but I can't find the energy or motivation after so much work. And after work the only thing I have to talk about is … you guessed it, work. It's breaking my brain and my back. I want something to change, i need it to change. I should start with quitting my job and just saying: “Fuck you, I quit.”

We can get payed more, and we should get payed more, but only by refusing to work and setting a fire under their asses can we get what we deserve. Leave them when you find something better, they are not family, they do not care for you, you are a mule that they wanna push to the limits for minimum wage and when they brake you, the only thing they have on their mind is to break the next someone that will accept the misery the call salary.

Sorry bout the rant…

TLDR; People work six days a week for eight hours, have no life, will nor power to change it. We are under payed and treated like mules. Only thing you have in your life is work, and work related thoughts. What have we become…?
