Antiwork

I spent the better part of a month on a high, excited that I was going to get promoted. Was told by other employees that I definitely would…

So I have a job that I quite like, but it's for a notoriously bad company. Massive, multi billion dollar, worldwide company that is famous for underpaying juniors. I have 2 years experience but was hired as an entry level. With a few other juniors with 0 experience. I got into the company via its graduate training program. And since my first job was while I was at university, I was both a graduate and experienced. Now, I could live with that. I thought fine I'll just prove myself. And I thought I did… I'm a junior but I've been given work that mid-senior positions would get, and was assigned work that the supervisor wanted to do. I asked my supervisor and my lead to vouch for me to be promoted and they both agreed. Then a friend and I decided to actually have a meeting with the department manager…

I asked my supervisor and my lead to vouch for me to be promoted and they both agreed. Then a friend and I decided to actually have a meeting with the department manager (separately of course as we were different cases wanting the same result, a promotion. Doubling our pay). We specifically spoke about money.

3 weeks ago I was excitedly told that I was being made permanent. This is very rare in this company as they have a ridiculously high turnover. I'm told by older employees congratulating me that juniors don't get permanent contracts. I spent 3 weeks on a high, so excited. So proud that I took initiative. Very happy. I didn't even know permanent contracts existed.

Today we got our contracts. The friend was not given a permanent contract… just 6 months… but they got a promotion with the doubled salary and I'm happy for them. They deserve it.
I excitedly waited for mine and I thought yeah I'll get a promotion too! I have 2 years experience, if they got promoted I sure will!

Then it came.

No change to pay or title.

I'm a junior with a permanent contract.

I asked what the fuck, and got that they had no intention of promoting me. And that reviews to salary will be in the summer.

Fuck this.

I'm so fucking defeated.

This world just wants to fuck me in the ass financially.

At least I get 10 days vacation instead of 9 -_-
