I work for a Fortune 50 company (hooray…), and I am a part of the Union. I get paid about $13.50 an hour + mileage. Altogether, I probably make about $15/hr at most but also have to spend about $30-40 every other day for gas. It's 8 hours of pretty intense physical labor, almost constantly carrying heavy cases. The only reason why I'm still here is because I'm young, living with my parents, and I don't rely on the money to survive. They've really been struggling to find workers recently. In the entire year that I've been here, they have not increased the pay except about a month ago, they increased our mileage by 10 cents. Every business locally pays much, much more than this job. I plan on replacing this job soon, but in the meantime, why has the Union not done anything about my wages? In the past few months, I've seen faithful workers who have been here for decades walk away. What's going on?
