I stole from my old job and I’m not sorry

I really can’t believe it’s been 8 years since I quit this place but oh well. I worked as the assistant manager for a chain gas station/oil company before I went back to college and during my first couple years in college. I made $9/hour. I made schedules, made orders, did inventory, plus stocked, cleaned, and acted as cashier. I went back to community college for my basics and needed to pay for that. Books and lab fees cost money. So I diverted from the only budget I could: my food budget. I lost weight. A lot of weight. Weight I didn’t have to lose. So I began eating out of trash cans. I really can’t believe it’s been 8 years since I quit this place but oh well. I worked as the assistant manager for a chain gas station/oil company before I went back to college and during my first couple years in college. I made $9/hour. I went back to community college for my basics and needed to pay for that. Books and lab fees cost money. So I diverted from the only budget I could: my food budget. I lost weight. A lot of weight. Weight I didn’t have to lose. So I began eating out of trash cans. As a single woman I didn’t qualify for food stamps, and as an atheist I couldn’t go to the church food bank.

The back room had no cameras. I knew that. I knew that there was stock that was there for months that no one touched. So I took some and ate it in the back and stuffed the wrappers in my pockets. I’m a big gal, I work out and am fairly muscular. I’m currently “overweight” due to muscle and body comp. I was 20 pounds underweight. I’m told it was scary to look at me.

I feel no guilt about this. I was starving. I was working 50 hours a week and didn’t make enough to eat properly.
