I take too much leave

As a parent with 2 children ( a special needs child who is frequently sick and a foster child) I have always had a hard time saving up leave. This week I hit an all time high of leave saved up for myself of 100 hours. Contrary to this, my boss over the last 4 weeks has started to tell me I've been taking too much time off recently. If it had only been once I might have just laughed it off as him not realizing how very little time off I've taken, but he made an offhand comment at the lunch table 2 weeks ago about me always taking time off. Contrary to this, my boss over the last 4 weeks has started to tell me I've been taking too much time off recently. If it had only been once I might have just laughed it off as him not realizing how very little time off I've taken, but he made an offhand comment at the lunch table 2 weeks ago about me always taking time off.

Today we had our annual appraisal of my work performance, and he again brought up how much time I've been taking off. He stated that of course family always comes first, but taking too much time off looks bad on not only me, but my higher ups as well. I mentioned I've actually got quite a bit of leave saved up now, but he just shook his head and asked if I could please try to be at work more often.

I'm sure it's that one of his bosses recently saw all my scattered leave I have taken in the past and got after him, but for what? For using my leave I earn? For never getting to take all my leave at once for a vacation because I always have to save up for sick children? I can't stand the culture of work, work, work, and even if you're working, work harder. Especially from people who earn triple the amount of leave I do per paycheck, so they're able to save up weeks worth of leave without even trying, so why can't the newer employees?

TL,DR: My boss keeps telling me I've taken too much leave recently, despite the fact that I just hit an all time high of 100 hours of leave saved up.
