Pretty much the title.
For reference, I had a bowel resection surgery on 06/28. Returned to work on 07/08. Minor complications, nothing life threatening.
I received a call from my physician who performed the surgery who said someone called to verify if I was a patient there, saying it was my current company’s HR department.
My physician said they did not verify or not verify this information as it is confidential & private.
I am seriously baffled right now that my HR department would even consider doing this – or even worse, my supervisor trying to be HR – would pull something like this.
Is this legal? Can HR departments do it? Can my supervisors do it?? I feel like I’m in the freaking twilight zone…
