So. Long story short. I work through a staffing agency. This staffing agency has gotten me a “temp” job at one of the better auto manufacturers in my area. They hire roughly 1000 Temps at my plant alone. Recently, due to a world wide part shortage, we have been given paid days off. These paid days off are “100% gap pay”, meaning we do not work but because they don't want to lose anyone, we are still paid for the 8 hours that we would be running. All that being said, the company I work for (the temp agency) is in control of my pay, they get the hours from my plant, and pay according. They are also supposed to pay us 100% of what we would have worked had we run. They did not. Instead, me, and about 1000 other individuals, were shorted 16 hours of gap pay. After raising hell for an evening, we were told we would be getting the pay they owed us the following Monday after payday. We did not. Instead, we were paid the following Tuesday, at 75% of the hours we should have worked, and on top of that, it was taxed as a gift (35.5% apposed to 19%) because someone didn't change the code in their system from incentive bonus to gap pay. Therefore, the $278 I was supposed to be paid, became 129. Today, after 5 days of trying to get my full pay, I came in with my pay stubs, the work paper stating we would receive 100% of our gap pay, and the percentage at which we were taxed. After talking to a receptionist at said staffing agency, I was quickly brought to the head of branch and questioned. Once I told her they fucked up, not only sending 25% less than what we should have gotten, but also taxing it 15% higher, she called her boss. After about 15 minutes I was asked to go into a room with her where she explained that someone had fucked up the code and our next gap pay would be at the correct tax rate. At this point she seemed very worried and gave me a 100$ gift card. I continued to tell her how this does nothing for the other 999 people employed by her. And that we are all living paycheck to paycheck. She continued to try to apologize and said she wasn't sure what they were going to do but would figure it out. She then quickly escorted me out and assured me my next check would be the full 100% pay. Completely unsure of what to do. Should I use this card? Should I take this somewhere higher in my plant and tell them I was pretty much bribed? Should I just shut my mouth and keep the money given it is more than I would have been paid anyways? I can't stop thinking about all the other Temps getting completely fucked by their mistake.
