I think making minimum wage higher and increasing pay in general is not the answer. Hear me out and please feel free to add to this.

I think we need to reduce the cost of essential items and living expenses. Rent, utilities, food, required insurances, food, things like these. Medical companies are making billions in part because living on lower income and needing cheaper food and such is usually less healthy. If you could pay for all your necessities with less than 75% of a UBI or minimum wage then everyone could afford the rest and life would improve significantly. I am thinking things like a fixed amount per 100 sqft living space. No ridiculous rent hikes. Just some basic structure that would keep things more in line and sustainable. ​ Going the way of increasing pay just lets these companies raise the prices more and more quickly. ​ What do you think?
