I think my manager is lying to my coworker

Just want to know if this seems extremely sketchy to anyone else. There's a coworker who has been at my job for about 1 month or so. She was hired to do some administrative stuff similar to what I do. But I know she has had a lot of issues figuring everything out as quickly as is being asked of her, and the manager doesn't seem to like her. So, as far as I know there are absolutely things on the schedule in the next 3 weeks (I am working the next 3 days at least). And I also don't think it's true that they disable things when there's a gap in the schedule. Am I wrong or is my manager like…straight up lying to her?

I think this is happening so the manager can essentially train this new person, have the removed coworker as a backup, but not fire her just in case. Personally I would not be so chill if I was told that I was not going to be working for 3 weeks.
