I worked for a fedex ground contractor as a driver for almost 3 years. Great attendance, loyal and always busted my ass. I'm 37 (not where i thought id be haha) have a strong work ethic. I also have aspergers and let my boss know during the interview, so it wasn't like he didn't know.. I live in WA state and we have the PFML (paid family medical leave)…my Dr was highly suggesting i take it for mental health and stuff. In feb within 6 days i was attacked by 2 dogs at a stop then slipped on ice and landed on some cement stairs, on my back. My boss is a bully and retaliates so once i got off light duty it was back to slave weeks. Anyways i get approved to take 12 weeks off for medical, my boss got the letter and of course was a dick and told me he was going to contest it. Ya ok good luck pal. Told him in a text I'd be taking 12 weeks off with a return date. Dude emails me saying my benefits end at the end of the month and the remaining balance will be taken out of my next check. Then i get the letter from cobra and under reason for cancelation it says “voluntarily quit” also took me completely out of the system. Such a boo baby. I dont mind that i dont have to go back there, i just think its a really cowardly way to fire an employee..can't even go about it like a professional. Im pretty over these employers that discriminate, have God complexes, favoritism, greed and don't even look at their employees as humans. Sorry for being so long, i could write a book on all the bullshit that goes on with fedex ground contractors lol
