We were a small town bank, and one day home office decided to do a surprise cash count. They got into our vault (size of a small closet), get the money and bring it out into our work area to start counting since there is more room. A customer comes, so they quickly scramble to get it all back in the vault. After they are done counting, they say $1,000 is missing. They immediately call the bank president, HR, and Operations Officer and let them know what is going on. Since we are a small bank, it is only me and one other person that works there regularly and has access to the vault. We had counted it the day before, so we both were confused what was going on. The other gal at been at the bank for 10 years and I only 6+ months. So naturally they immediately blamed me. The people who did the counting decide to double check and randomly find the missing $1,000 dollars on a shelf above where they counted in the vault after they moved everything back in there…
Never got an apology, instead we had over $3,000 of coin in bags that were waiting to finish filling and then would sell to a larger bank. Another branch in their suprise cash count was off on coin, so they told us to hand roll the coin. Safe to say I didn’t last much longer and would never work at a bank again.
When I left I so wanted to withdraw $3,000 in coin, dump it in a wheel barrel, and take it to home office and say have fun counting and rolling this.
TLDR: Worked at a bank, accused of taking $1,000 and told to hand roll $3,000 of coin. Left soon after and will never return
