I just had a baby and was placed on maternity leave last month. My initial plan was to return to work after 2 weeks because I am the stable income in my family. My husband is a car salesman and his income varies(I will get to that in a second). During my hospital stay, my boss called and said they were going to pay me during my leave so I could spend time with my baby. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and they stopped paying me and I was given a bill for my health insurance due on the first just like our rent. Our rent just increased by $500. I have 0 clue how we’re going to afford it. Don’t ask about a saving account because what really is a savings account today. The GM of the stealership my husband works for took his commission from a new car deal because “He didn’t deserve it” that was our rent money. My salary was our rent money. My husband used to think I was crazy because I would rant about how the US is a dystopian wasteland but now he understands why. I would love to leave, but guess what, that shit cost money too.
