I was told to work hard in school, spend big $ on college, only to graduate and realize that the cost of living is very unaffordable.

Jobs after college weren’t very easy to find, especially related to what one studied. One would need to find an affordable room to rent, or live month to month as an apartment could be pricey. Job stability hardly existed.
