I watched my co-worker miscarry in the office, then she got fired

This happened two days ago, and I still can't believe it happened. I work in a Mortgage lending office and my co-worker and I are both Administrators. We work in close quarters and I noticed when she got to work she wasn't feeling well. Her face was pretty gray and she was sweating a lot. She was also about 3 months pregnant. I asked her if she needed anything and she said she was fine. We worked for a little while, then she grasped her stomach and said she needed to go to the bathroom. When she stood up, her white pants were soaked in blood. Forgetting that she was pregnant for a split second, I asked if she was on her period and if she needed a pad. It was at this point when everything fell apart in a matter of 15 seconds. I immediately realized my mistake and rushed to her aid, helping her get to the ground because she looked like she was about to pass out. I started yelling for someone to call an ambulance for her, and it caught the attention of the whole office.

For context, if you've never worked in a Mortgage firm, there is usually a mix of Loan Officers, Borrowers (Those who come in the office to discuss mortgage loans with the officers), A few Administrators, An Operations Manager, and the boss of the company. Everyone rushed to her aid, and she was taken to the hospital, I had to go sit in my car for a while after this happened to calm down, myself. I can't imagine what she's going through.

Apparently, my co-worker “chose an inconvenient time to miscarry”, because a Potential Borrower was so shocked by the scene that he left, and all of the potential profits my company could of made from him, left with him.

This was fucking traumatic enough without the boss of my company deciding that my co-worker had made a scene, caused him to lose profits, and therefore decided that the best course of action was to fire my hospitalized co-worker. I learned about this today when I got her workload emailed to me by my boss. I don't even have her number to reach out and offer my condolences. I am writing this at work because I don't really care if I get fired. I'm planning on getting another job and leaving without warning. Fuck this company.
