I work in an unusual setting. I essentially do home care but for more than one person in the same house. Today I was working 12 hours.
During this time, I tried messaging my partner and calling because work was stressful. They didn't answer. It's common for us to have or phones away from us. But usually there's a reply 3-4 hours at the most. Well I tried for 9. I couldn't get a hold of them so I asked a family member to check on them. I feared the worst honestly.
Finally they call me… And they are laughing I had someone check on them. I was pissed and crying because I was so pissed. So I stepped out on the balcony of the country house to yell. I also cursed. I was very angry and after that call I felt bad so much I said I was sorry later on.
Well. During the half a minute I was outside, the neighbors across the street heard me and were yelling to watch my language. I wasn't even yelling for a minute. Once I got off the call they yelled again. I yelled back and told them to mind their business.
I informed my boss of what happened cause they yelled about calling the cops, which they can't. They said they understand but to do it in another room next time. Despite the second story, the house is smaller and not very well insulated. So I didn't want to freak out my clients. I also didn't know the neighbors were outside or I wouldn't have done it.
My boss told me I should probably apologize…. Because they got in my business and didn't know what was going on. They were rude themselves. I'm just done with my boss expecting me to be the peacekeeper but I can't stand up for myself.
