I’m not even going to go on the rant of how invasive this feels? Like it’s not as if I’m moving states and they have different labor laws or tax systems to worry about.
But since they want to be fucking nosey I’m going to be honest with them. I’m considered middle class and a young single Gen Z who worked their fucking ASS off for it, and despite this I can’t afford a one bedroom apartment to myself!
Like congrats, give yourselves a pack on the back for my ONE PERCENT raise this year when my rent went up THIRY FIVE PERCENT alone!
So I’m going to let them know exactly, no this move won’t impact my work but I have to move three hours away from the home I’ve built to move in with my brother for a roommate because YOU all decided cost of living raises are too expensive.
I know I’m lucky compared to many others, but god this makes my blood boil. To be so incredibly invasive in my personal business when they have no place and their compensation decisions are the direct reason that no matter how hard we work, we become corporate slaves to inflation.
I just had to rant to people who might actually care. Sorry for formatting and grammar, I’m on mobile.
Edit: this same company enforced mandatory overtime monthly with weekend hours non-negotiable and boasts RECORD profits for the past three years I’ve been with them but can only afford a 1-3% raise lmao.
2nd edit: okay ngl I am a little scared so direction on how to handle this would be nice
