I’m from the US. I’ll be moving to Norway this Winter. People there are happier. Their government is FOR them. They don’t mind paying taxes. The average Norwegian trusts each other more. They get 5 weeks of vacation, a lengthy maternity and paternity leave, and so much more.
Their worker rights are outstanding and when I starting meeting other Norwegians some of the things they told me about worker rights blew my mind. Their laws immediately made sense and I couldn’t believe I was so used to what I had in the US.
I’m making about 85k a year and will likely make about 70k after moving. To be frank the lifestyle is so much better and I just feel happier knowing that I’m part of a system that takes care of my friends and family. I look forward to having a healthier slow paced life. It’s good for the immune system too I might add.
I might also add that the country has a lower Gini Coefficient than the US (Think having more economic rungs on their ladder). Another study showed that across each generation Norwegians increased more percentage-wise in wealth than in the US. Also, they had more rich people per capita than in the US (rich being defined as having over 30 million).
