My favorite jobs ever were customer service jobs. Working as a barista, video game employee, or cashier was far more fun than working as a product manager. Plus, I got way more meaningful interaction with my coworkers and customers than I ever do now. And to add to that, I was in a league of my own as a customer service worker. But because of the way our society is setup, in order to have an anywhere-near-comfortable life I had to move on from customer service to a “real job”. It just blows my mind that i work less hours and impact far fewer people at this job whereas I interacted with and directly impacted way more people in those jobs, yet this job is considered “real” whereas those were considered “minimum wage jobs”. It’s bs!
