Dear Lord the types of shit that happens in mines, and the general public has no idea what happens or anything about underground mining.
I work in aggregates on overnight work, so we mine rocks to crush for gravel, cement, and concrete.
We work underground, as do most of our locations as it's more efficient use of surface area topside, and so much shit happens in this company and it's really pathetic.
Reminder for the public that mining does NOT fall under OSHA as mining is too complicated and specific for OSHA to handle so MSHA is our governing body as far as labor laws and protections are concerned.
It's the ridiculous, we got trucks running that got messed up handrails, lights either not working or plain fell off, underground areas aren't scaled but we still work in those areas, there are ribs need tagging and management basically said they'll deal with it in the morning and then one of the newer truck drivers got lost literally because it wasn't tagged right.
There are people falling asleep on dayshift and nothing happens, people breaking company policy and violating MSHA regs all day on dayshift, but once nightshift rolls around we are the ones that get in trouble the most.
We've had 7 write ups on our shift alone, at least two of them are bogus as one was literally someone else's fault and the employee still got written up, and I've notified management about my inability to sleep in the daytime and they won't move me to dayshift even though I won the bid on a dayshift job and I got tired and forgot to put an oil cap back on, I found the problem myself and fixed it myself by putting in the hydraulic oil for my truck, and then got written up.
I'm just going to hide problems as much as I can until I get a new job lol fuckkk this.
