Antiwork

I worked 20 out of 26 hours and got told off for being stressed out.

I work as a waitress at a pub/nightclub wed thru sun, at night. My shift is about nine hours long, but this weekend I had to do two ten hour shifts, six hours apart. I started work on Saturday evening, 8 p.m., went to sleep about four hours and finished work on Sunday night, 10 p.m. The customers were nasty. During the Sunday afternoon shift, management gave us two pizzas to share between all the staff (waiters, cleaners, music and lighting techs, cashiers) and I got less than half a slice. I didn’t eat anything until midnight and I had started the shift at noon. They let other employees go home early, not me (this happens every day). We were all on our second shift because the owners had decided that they wanted to open on Sunday afternoon because of a holiday that my country celebrates. We were all exhausted.…

My manager told me off for “being stressed out”. In her words, I should not care that much, for my own good. I have anxiety, and it gets worse when I am lacking sleep, under pressure, and not eating properly (or all of the above).

I can’t quit unless I land another job, so I’m just venting. Thank you.
