Ideas for income that doesn’t require punching a time clock

I'm considering looking into Lyft or Uber. I have a brand new car that I barely drive so I'm really not worried about putting mileage on it. I've heard such a wide range stories about working for them that I'm not sure what to be believe, I've heard people say that they basically work for free and I've heard people saying that they make like $35 an hour. I just want something where I can work as much or little as I want, whether I wanna work 80 hours or 10 hours a week.
