If you don’t say good morning back, apparently you were “raised different”

I have this co-worker that goes around the office every single day M-F and tells everyone good morning. Even if your door is closed, he will open it and say good morning. I finally had to tell him that it just wasn't my thing. He is a very easy going and told me it's fine if I don't say it back, but it's just “his thing.” Well, the person in the office right next to me (60+ female) overheard this conversation and straight up said “If someone tells you good morning, you say it back!” Well, I don't like a smart ass that engages in conversations they aren't a part of, so I said “I'm just not in the mood to say it back.” HER REPLY: “I guess I was just raised different, you always say good morning back” Like WTF, I come to this office and have to spend…

Like WTF, I come to this office and have to spend more time with you people than my own family and I'm expected to be spritely every time you come into my space to tell me good morning?
