IDK if this type of post is allowed so please downvote it off, if not. Idk where else to vent.
I received a call at work from a very boisterous man who needed assistance.
Did he allow me to assist? No, not without telling me he is knowledgeable and only wanted me to confirm he knew, what he knew.
He asked a question.
I answer all while he “YAP, YAP, knew that, KNEWWW that”
He said my name after every sentence.
Me: “Ok, is there anything else I can help with?”
He says, “I need my 2 staff to listen in so I don't mess up.”
This is where it gets worse.
Staff #1 comes in, he and asks me to repeat “the answer,”
I'm on speaker now.
I answer.
He loudly asks #1, who I assume is literally next to him
“YOU GOT THAT, DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? Hahahah, need to make sure we all get it,
am I right [my name], am I right,
we gotta take care of this right?”
Staff #1 kindly responds yes I understand, with a very fake giggle…. pathetically fake.
He says “Good! Now that's what I like to hear. WHOA WAIT A MINUTE, where the hell is Staff #2?????”
1 responds quietly “She's on the phone.”
He shouts something to the effect of “WHO SAID SHE CAN BE ON THE PHONE WITH ANYONE ELSE, I JUST CALLED YOU BOTH IN, AND WHEN I CALL YOU GET IN HERE, [my name] is the most important right now, you hear that you're important, [my name] you like knowing you're important??”
Me: Ok, Is there anything else I can help with?
Staff #2 joins.
He starts thanking me and then continues to shout at the two staff members and they respond with giggles, he shouts, they giggle, he asks them a question, he interrupts, they giggle again, he tries to tell me a joke, I don't laugh, I don't respond.
He asks if I'm still there, I say Yes.
He repeats the answer we've been discussing.
The staff members then giggle LESS as he continues with his rant of BS, and as they notice I'm annoyed with my lack of colorful response.
I felt bad for them, y'all they were doing this to keep their job. He was condescending and as I myself don't work for him I was able to… simply not laugh.
It was disgusting. I could barely endure that 15 minutes, how could they deal with him for a full work day??
He then ends with “thank you” and hangs up. It was so bizarre. Full speed, loud word vomit — then BYE.
If you work for someone like that, seriously that's not the way to go. Get out. I hope the 2 quit very soon.
I was mostly mad that I had to endure that call, anti-work vibes kicked in hard after that. The things I could have said.. had I not maintained professionalism.
