I've been working at this job for three months. When I applied, it was listed as a work from home job. Good thing, because I live more than 160km (150mi) from home. The only time I'd need to travel to the office is for the first three weeks of training and then once a month for team meetings.
I haven't been allowed to work from home for a single day yet. For a 9-5 shift I have to leave at 5.45am, and don't get home until 8pm. This last week, I've had the 10.30-6.30 shift, which has resulted in me leaving for work at 6.30am, and not getting home until at least 10pm.
With all the stress and travel building up, I've now taken three of the last six work days off. When I asked my team leader to move the shifts for the week, she said I'd left it too late (I'd been following up with her for 3 weeks now). When I chucked a sickie today, I told her that it was the travel that was making it impossible to come in. Her response – “what do YOU plan on doing about it?”
Any time I ask about work from home, she says that I haven't got a good enough base knowledge. But she's only been in the job 2 months longer than me, spent less time doing what I'm doing, and isn't able to help team members. Also, all communication and all help is done through MS Teams. There's no actual benefit to being in the office.
Prior to applying, I told everyone in every department that I had already booked a holiday, that I would need the first week of July off, and that i didn't care if I wasn't paid for that week. And guess who just just scheduled to work that week, despite the constant reminders?
I just can't put up with the complete lack of care for staff at this job, and just how much of a lie the advertised job was.
