So I work at a large Canadian coffee company. When my location first opened, there were several people who prepared food for the next day, cleaned, etc. All the others have been fired or quit.
Throughout the summer they’ve had me working 5 days a week and called me in on my days off. Whenever they didn’t, they’d just deal with nobody preparing the food for the next day. And when I’d return, they’d complain about them not doing it. I’m also the only person that cleans past the mandatory things. I clean under the soupwell, in the sinks, above the toaster, wherever people don’t do it. I’m also the only person that knows how to.
Now they have nobody to do it. I got tired of their bullshit and put in my two weeks after a shift last night – and immediately got job offers starting at CAD 16/hour, much above my pay of 14.15/hour. Fuck them.
