I’m a director at the company I work for and have always expected all my employees to get to work early and stay late. Everyone is salaried, so they get no benefit from it financially just people who put in longer hours get looked at for promotion more.
After reading through this sub, I’ve started encouraging everyone under me to have more of a work life balance, and leaving at 5 or even before isn’t going to stop you from getting ahead. If you can do all of your work, you shouldn’t be forced to stay til 6:30 or stay online til 8 just for plaudits.
In the past, I leaned into the start up culture where everyone wants to prove how hard they work by long hours and have encouraged that.
