I've been working at a tobacco plant for a year and its an easy job (box maker). At the end of june my line leader got mad because the higher up changed the shitf schedule. 1st works 10hrs on Monday, 9hrs for Tuesday to Thursday, and off on Friday. My shift (2nd) got our hours shifted (still 8 hours), work throughout the week (no Fridays off). Everyone got mad and write down our names on a petition to keep our regular schedule. Of course they didn't listen and people were mad for days. On the last day before the schedule change we have a meeting, they say that change it because they don't have enough people on 3rd shift (they want everyone on 2nd to help 3rd when all the runs done) and want to prioritize 1st shift. After the meeting, our supervisor went and told us that they wasn't even thinking about having a meeting about the schedule change. So the change took effect and we suppose to leave at 11:30, but people took complaint (I did too but didn't say anything) and now most of them come in a hour early and leave at 10:30 to get the 8 hours and people not in my department also leave in 10:30. So now I have to I have to clean up for 2 hours with 3rd shift and go home at almost 12 am (I don't have a license so I have to wait for my parents to pick me up. Also the icing on the cake is that my supervisor has had enough of the higher ups at quit so now we have a new supervisor that almost everyone doesn't like.
