I’m an office based desktop support person, am I being unreasonable by refusing to drill 300 HDD’s because my company is too tight to pay the accredited shredding company they usually use?

I used to work in an aerospace machine shop so I'm perfectly capable but as an office worker I don't see why I should be expected to? Are they opening themselves up to litigation should me or my (untrained) colleague have an accident? I work for a multinational IT company BTW.
